After spending the night partying with friends and the
family, Going to bed at around seven only to be woken up by phone calls and
messages saying;
- 'COME INTO THE BEDROOM NOW, SERIOUSLY, SOMETHING AMAZING JUST HAPPENED'
- 'PLEASE COME NOW'
- 'COME HOME ASAP, SERIOUSLY IT’S WORTH IT'
So I got up, and went home, everyone was smiling to each
other pretending like everything was perfectly normal when it was quite obvious
that some kind of mysterious happenings were going on. I walked to the door
only to see my mum standing with the door open. 'Hello Meg' she said like she
would every other day, except today was different. Her voice which had
previously been gone for two years was back. I stood at the door, hand to
mouth, tears in my eyes. Of course you only understand the feeling that this
brings if you have been put in the situation. The day had been a series of
tears, amazement, family and friendly fun. The only problem now is she won’t
shut up. But she’s happy. Happy Voice Day as Josh would say.
Have you ever read The Magic Toyshop by Angela Carter? It's a great book.
